Sunspot 1339 / Solar Update:
Sunspot 1339 / Solar Update:
Solar activity is moderate heading into Thursday with two M-Class events and countless C-Class flares within the past 24 hours. The largest of the M-Class flares was an M4.3 event at 22:01 UTC Wednesday evening around big Sunspot 1339. This flare did produce a small CME, but it was not Earth directed. The chances for Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) will increase as 1339 rotates into a more geoeffective position. All of the other current Sunspot regions including Sunspot 1338 in the south have been quiet. It should be noted that 15 of the last solar flares recorded by SolarSoft have all been around Sunspot 1339. http://solarham.com/ |
