Why do people have faith in Social Security? Just a guess, but the fact that it has worked pretty well for the last 76 years might have something to do with it. Well, if you call "working pretty well" a system in which 1) one is forced to "invest" essentially at gunpoint, and 2) in which the vast preponderance of the assets of the investors are looted at will and have been bled nearly dry by debasement of the currency and 3) which keeps afloat only by more forced extractions from new victims, then I guess you're right. If the system had been run honestly and without coercion and had invested in real, productive assets, and, most importantly, had been protected from rape by bankers and politicians, then I would agree with you (and I think our retirees would be ten times richer at the very least). With all good wishes, Kevin. -- http://nationalvanguard.org/ http://kevinalfredstrom.com/ |
