People have gone crazy! In Chicago a puppy peed on a porch, the pee
trickled along the porch to next door. Because of that a guy was shot
and killed.

Wasn't Chicago. A far south suburb called University Park.

Old man with nice lawn takes young man to task and asks if he is
responsible for various incidents of excrement on yard and sidewalk.
Young man brushes him off, eventually punches him in face. Gun drawn
(young man has already seen it and taunted him about it); young
man shot in abdomen.

Not a white on black crime (wow would we have heard about it then).
Old man is ex-marine, looks like the kind of guy you would want to
hang out with.

After conviction (2nd degree homicide) judge rules that it was not
over dog, but over being assaulted by young man & overreacting.
Due to pristine record (not even a traffic violation) 70 y.o. given
probation.
