It used to be really rough for cab drivers. There was a rash of incidents in which a cabbie would be called and the +ACI-passenger+ACI would shoot the cabbie in the back of the head and steal his cash.

Things aren't so bad now. But cabbies didn't have a VOCAL union telling us that we'd all be walking to work if it weren't for them.
