Default REVIEW - Kiwa filter for the Yaesu FRG-7

That would make sense, since many of the ceramic filters C.F. is specified
as plus or minus 2kHz. A touch-up of the I.F. transformers should put you
in business. If you don't use a signal generator that is set to the actual
frequency, it is better to initially peak the I.F. transformers on the
noise, with the antenna disconnected. This will get you very close, since
the filter's bandpass characteristics will be the dominating factor for
tuning.

Addendum to my review -- I just spoke with Craig @ Kiwa, and he
mentioned that the symptom I described regarding SSB and Narrow is
almost always due to an alignment issue. That is not a surprise and
makes a lot of sense, as this radio has sat unused for more than 10
years. In any event, even with that problem, the Kiwa filter is such
a tremendous improvement as is. On the other hand, it's time for me
to align the old radio!

This sounds like the BFO mixing frequencies are off which throws the signal out
of the passband with the narrow filter. There is a simple alignment procedure
for this I think. Just one adjustment sets them both (USB and LSB).

Randy:

Craig @ Kiwa has modified 3 radios
for me, turning the volume up is the
price you pay for better performance.

Crag is 1st class.
