I just purchased my first SW receiver, a Drake SW8. I would like to start
recording data about the stations I receive. I would prefer a computer
based log since my computer is next to the radio. Did a Google search and
was overwhelmed with the numerous offerings. Anyway am seeking advice on a
program that is straightforward for a beginner (at least to the SW world)
and offers some potential for future growth. I don't foresee adding a
transmit capability to by set up in the near future.

You could use an Excel, or Works spreadsheet for the purpose if you already
have either application, or set up a database to use.

Take a look at WRLog. It is a basic logging package for SWL that I
use. It has all the features you want in addition to logging like a
reception report generator, and various log reports. It also imports
the HFCC and ILG shortwave databases and has a bearing and distance
calculator among other things. You can check it out and download the
