Don't you wish you had a dollar for every time you read a stupid reply to a
poster's question, like the following typical example? ORIGINAL POSTER asks something like this: I am thinking about getting a Blap-O-Matic 99 tabletop receiver. How well does this radio perform? Has anyone had any problems with it? Please share your hands-on experience with your Blap-O-Matic 99. Thanks. SOME IDIOT posts the following reply: I don't know anything about the Blap-O-Matic 99, but I do have a Radio Snatch XYZ-222, which seems to do a great job for a portable. It eats batteries, though. I really like the little red signal strength LED. AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH !!!!! |

You want to critisize people who try to contribute to a specific discussion with a possible general comparision, but you don't find a specific post to critisize? Frank Dresser |

Actually I have the Blap -O-Matic 88 and find it to be an excellent
reciever. The natural gas operated display is nice and bright and the hamster driver mechanical filters have a great shape factor depending on what type of skirt I put on the hamster. I believe the 99 uses geribles rather than hamsters thus having the longer tail that pulls in that extra faint signal. "BlabittyBlahBlah" wrote in message ... You are correct, I had a chance to use a friends 99 on a DXpedition a while back and it really blew the 88 away. The 99 has a built in feeder for the gerbils as well, whereas the 88 does not have that feature for the hamsters. One can always count on a Blap-O-Matic in those tough DXing situations, no matter what model one chooses. "BlabittyBlahBlah" wrote in message ... Frank Dresser What contribution? The guy only wanted to hear about the Blap-O-Matic 99, not every other possible radio! If someone asks me about a Drake R8B, why would I tell him about a Sony 7600? Although I didn't cite an actual example, anyone who's read this newsgroup for a while knows what I'm talking about. Sheesh. You eediot! |

I think that this has to be my all-time favorite thread!

I love a good chuckle s. Let me throw in my three cents worth:
If the hamster or gerbil dies, what sauce goes well with small-rodent-shish-kebob g ? With all that bright sun and heat, BBQ would be really marvellous while listening to Clandestine Enemy of the State via upper Tanu-Tuva. |

Although I didn't cite an actual example, anyone who's read this newsgroup for a while knows what I'm talking about. Sheesh. You eediot! OK, let's keep making stuff up. Say somebody asked about an intermittent display on an R-8. Somebody fixed their Sony 7600 by disassembling it and cleaning some contacts. Is that an exact, step-by-step fix to the R-8's owner's problem? Nope. But it could be useful information. Other R-8 owners may have fixed intermittents in the power supply or the encoder. But that's not a display, is it? But let's say the R-8 owner has a peculiar sensitivity. He's offended by answers that don't address his exact problem in his exact radio. And usenet, being usenet as usual, brings forth many posts of imperfect relevance. Dammit! Maybe nobody has had this exact problem in this exact radio. Or the one guy who fixed that problem went fishing that week. Well, I think it's high time somebody fixes usenet. Maybe when Hillary Clinton gets re-elected as our President, she'll skip the Gays in the Military and National Health Care nonsense and go for the really, really important stuff. The Special Sensitivity Usenet Posters Act. Then those people who reply with inexact answers will get almost what they deserve. Frank Dresser |

One day I was listening to Brother Stair, and I heard this loud BANG!! and then smoke started billowing out of it. For a second, I thought the old Prophet had finally called one right. But then I noticed the radio was in the bright sunshine, and must have overheated. Frank Dresser |
