So, my girlfriends boss just gave me an old Sony ICF 2001 that was given to
him by his grandfather forever ago. The radio works fine except that WBCQ is
coming in at about 7.325 instead of 7.415 and all of the other SW and MW
frequencies are off about the same. FM is fine. Anyone know how I can
reconcile this radios inaccuracies? Thanks

Seems the thing needs an alignment. Usual procedu Get service manual
(or find someone who has one), align.

Yes, alignment will be needed, but it should also be said that, unless
someone tinkered with the radio to knock it this far out, there may be an
actual defect which would have to be attended to first. It is not at all
normal for one of these to "drift" that horrendously far out of alignment.
When a radio is that far off frequency one must suspect that it may have
been dropped sufficiently hard to break an internal part or connection, or
as I said, someone may have tried to adjust things and gotten it completely
screwed up. If you feel comfortable taking it apart (and there are some
tricks about disassembly and re-assembly you should be aware of), you could
check that the interior is clean and that nothing looks broken or loose.

A competent technician, with the Service Manual, should probably be able to
tell which is the case with a brief check out. For example, is this dial
inaccuracy consistent at all sw frequencies, am etc. Do all the functions
seem to function properly and does reception seem normal even though at the
wrong frequency? You will also get a sense as you go through the alignment
procedure if everything seems to adjust properly or if you can't get it
right.

Is there a "fine tuning" control hidden somewhere on the set? Perhaps
labelled as a "BFO" or something?

It does have one, but just +/- 1 or 2 kHz.
