I was telling a friend of mine about the "FREE" FR200 radio at The Good
Guys. He calls the store on Stevens Creek to see if they had any since it's quite a distance from his house. "Oh yea, we have 2 of them left" the guy tells him. So off he goes with coupon in hand. When he finally gets to the store, he shows the manager his coupon and the manager says "Oh sorry, we ran out of them last Saturday". My friend tells the manager he just called and was assured they had 2 in stock. The manager says "Oh, the 2 we have in stock are for sale, we gave away the free ones". Do I smell something rotten here? I wonder if 60 minutes or "Action Line" would be interested in something like that. That is definitely one of the most poultry feces things I have ever heard. I will write Eaton and see what their take on this is... |

It's called "Bait and Switch". Get the customer (sucker)
into the store with high hopes, tell em they're all sold out, but you can "..have this one here for just $59.95 more!" I am suprised you fell for this one. It's the oldest marketing trick in the book. "Jim Hackett" wrote in message k.net... I was telling a friend of mine about the "FREE" FR200 radio at The Good Guys. It was for real, BUT, each store only had 25 to give away. I went to my
local GG's and the manager told me that. I subscribe to Finley's freebies newsletter and this is the one week I forgot to look at it. That'll teach me.....oh well.....Eric |
