I would like to gain some knowledge about the applications
of the various tubes

for a first step visit http://frank.pocnet.net/ and
http://people.freenet.de/radiolabor/, both are very good sources for
tube data and socket schematics. Access to some tube testing equipment
(operator included, hi) would be fine too, check if the tubes are
still running within their specs. Hams often have got tube testing
equipment. All kind of tubes - regardless to their d.o.p. - are
interesting either for hams or collectors. For instance check ebay
from time to time for corresponding sellings to gather the value. The
types you've listed are mostly post WWII as far as I've seen, so don't
expect too much profit when selling them.

The more difficult part is the applications which should be easy to
find with a bit googling though. Also check this:
http://members.lycos.nl/aren/id33.htm there are some tube projects. It
should be no problem to find some literature on the theory of tube
application. Public library?

If I were you, I would keep the tubes. You never know! ;-)

Good luck!
