Terrible Reception Pacific Northwest

Anybody else experiencing absolutely awful reception conditions the past
couple nights? I'm in Oregon and stations I normally pick up loud and clear
I can barely hear or not hear at all. Just a lot of white noise on all the
bands...especially at 0200-0400 hours, when reception should be the best.
I'm using two radios (Sony 2010 and Sony 7600GR) and get the same results
with either. I live near several huge TV/radio towers and wonder if they've
done something to start affecting my shortwave signals...first time its
happened. Thanks for any input...

Me, too.

I blame John Ashcroft.

I don't think he's responsible, I just blame John Ashcroft. ^_^

Reception has been crappy lately up here in British Columbia. It
hasn't been up to much for quite a few months with the exception of
the odd decent day.

Yeah, things have been quieter in New Zealand than usual. It's summer here
and we can usually here tons of US and South American and Australian CB DX.
But only on the odd day lately.

Maybe the ionosphere has been discontinued, due to lack of funding?

Is that what it takes to develop such a healthy paranoia of O.W.L.E.S.
(one-world socialists)? Be careful, that classical music was probably written
by a Russian and is probably being used to lull you into a false sense of
complacency. "Fresh air" sounds like an attempt to besmirch the environmental
accomplishments of our oil-drilling President.

You need to be watched. I hope Ashcroft is listening.

That's been my impression here in the PNW too. I've been expecting
lots of fine and tiny stations in the winter on my recently purchased
(summer) R75, but this really hasn't been the case. Except for some
5-10 kw stations in Brazil I haven't got good copy from anything but
the more powerful broadcasters. I've been waiting and waiting for the
domestic Papua New Guinea stations to make an appearance but so far no
joy. In the past my Sony 2010 captured the Aussie Alice Springs and
her sisters but I'm also waiting for them to become available as well.

North Korea was easy but recently is quite tough. Ditto for RHC
Havana--- and I think they may be having transmitter issues on top of
it all.

Oh well.
