I have not seen carbon (comp) resistors at Radio Shack in many, many years.
Most of Shack's resistors are carbon film. The 1/4-watters are metal film. Shack also has 8 ohm non-inductive 20-watters. Those carbon film resistors are the kind to use for replacing high value resistors, especially those at the front end control grids, in old tube type radios, to get rid of the shot noise.
