Hi Dan,

Thanks for your reply.
The KA105 has an attractive price, and since the
Infomate only gives 15 minutes play for 1 minute
of cranking I think I'll pass on the it. The other
features are nice, but geez... 15 minutes?

I still believe eventually we'll see a serious performance digital
windup radio. Such a radio was mentioned as "coming up"
in the 2003 Passport (p.104), but I've yet to find anyone who
knows what it meant. Someone told me it was the
Freeplay Summit, but I think that radio was already
available when I got my copy of the 2003 Passport, and from
what I've read it's not a "serious" performing shortwave radio.

playing dress up in Jungle Camouflage

( See below)

IMHOI, the Kaito KA105 is smaller, handier, looks better;
& if you have a set of spare batteries for it, your all set

If the batteries are dead and you need to listen now, simply crank the on-radio
dynamo generator for about 1 minute,
and you are good to go for up to 15 minutes! Because it is powered by 4 AA
rechargeable batteries,
you can also drop in a freshly charged set.
It will play for about 7 hours when fully charged.

It has jacks for head phones and AC/DC adapters (included). It is made with
quality Toshiba components and has a lifetime warranty on the solar cell.
It receives 4 bands:

FM 87.5-108 MHZ
SW 5.95-15.60 MHZ
WX 162.40-162.55MHZ

I've never seen it before. Is it new? Tested?
The URL above says it has Toshiba components.
