Ham Radio Deluxe
If you use your PC for radio control, then you owe it to yourself to check out Ham Radio Deluxe. It supports a large number of radios and Simon and Pete have recently added ILG SWL database support and it is nothing short of fabulous. The support is better than you can imagine. If this isn't enough, then consider that Ham Radio Deluxe is completely free.

I will take a look at Ham-Radio to see if it will support
the Icom PCR1000. I recently traded for one and would like a better program then what Icom supplies. I had it loaned to a friend until he got his "new" NRD525??. I have been using the '1000 for the last week and I am more then a little underwealmed by both the radio and Icoms sad sofware. Terry. |

@f14g2000cwb.googlegroups.com: AS I stated, here is a misleading description from the HAM Radio Deluxe web site: "Introduction Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) is a suite of free Windows programs providing CAT control for commonly used transceivers and receivers." Notice that it says "CAT control". This is why I never downloaded it. When I became frustrated trying to find suitable software that uses the Icom R-75 Serial Port, I decided to download it with the intent of buying/making the required CAT interface. After loading it onto my computer, I ran the program to become familiar with it until I obtained the correct interface. I was surprised to see that it was supporting the computer's serial port (or more correctly, USB to Serial Port Adapter). It's very thorough, all the controls that I can think of are available as well as the Band Scope on the more recent versions of the program. This makes scanning a particular range of frequencies a breeze. Just enter the upper and lower scan range and wait for the completion of the scan. Then you just click on various peaks that you suspect represent signals and the radio tunes to those frequencies. From what I can see, the photos on the site do not do the program any justice, as I was more interested in pragmatic controls, i.e. whatever is available on the radio face or perhaps in the radio menus, versus the other excellent capabilities that HAM Radio Deluxe has. Also, the R-75 is simpler than the example that they give here of the Icom 7800 (?) http://hrd.ham-radio.ch/HRD-IC-7800.JPG therefore my setup appears much less cluttered. The program is highly customizable. Their web site lists the PCR-1000, as well as the following radios as being supported: http://hrd.ham-radio.ch/index.html Elecraft K2 ICOM IC-703, IC-706, IC-706MkII, IC-706MkIIG, IC-707, IC-718, IC-725, IC- 726, IC-728, IC-729, IC-735, IC-736, IC-737, IC-738, IC-7400, IC-746, IC- 746Pro, IC-751A, IC-751A (Piexx), IC-756, IC-756Pro, IC-756ProII, IC- 756ProIII, IC-761, IC-765, IC-775DSP, IC-7800, IC-781, IC-821H, IC-910H, IC-R10, IC-R20, IC-R75, IC-R8500, PCR-1000 Kenwood R-5000, TS-140S, TS-2000, TS-440S, TS-450S, TS-480, TS-50S, TS- 570, TS-60S, TS-680S, TS-690S, TS-790, TS-850, TS-870, TS-940S, TS-950, TS-B2000 Ten-Tec Argonaut, Jupiter, Orion, RX-350 Yaesu FT-100, FT-1000D, FT-1000MP MkV, FT-600, FT-817, FT-840, FT-847, FT-857, FT-890, FT-897, FT-900, FT-920, FT-990 Once again, everywhere I see references to HAM Radio Deluxe, they refer to it as CAT control software, yet I'm using it to interface with the radio's serial port. Read the reviews at: http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/3498 Don't be fooled by some of the photos, like the one at eham for the reviews above. The interface is superlative. See here (a link already listed in this post) http://hrd.ham-radio.ch/HRD-IC-7800.JPG Everything that is contained in the black background is all that needs to be shown, the left and bottom menu windows can be closed, and the program itself has a full screen mode. From one review: "Ham Radio Deluxe is simply OUTSTANDING! It is an evolving work of art. Of all the fine programs that control radios, this one stands out because the GUI provides a large radio dial reminiscent of some of the finer radios in history. Look at the screen shots. But, it goes well beyond a fantastic graphical user interface. When you use this program, you feel like your personal computer IS the radio." From another: "Hello for those who grew up using and liking old radios that used the Slide Rule Dial. This rig control brings this retro feature into the 21st century in a big way. Every one else has already talked about the great GUI in this program. It is really a neat way to tune around with your rig." Many other reviews available. Forward this information to other in this group that you feel may be interested. I'm sure that I'm on many people's plonk files, so they may not see this post. Regards. Dr. Artaud I will take a look at Ham-Radio to see if it will support the Icom PCR1000. I recently traded for one and would like a better program then what Icom supplies. You must mean you use it with the PCR-1000. I looked in the Ham Radio
Deluxe forum and the PCR-100 is not supported. skulker On Fri, 25 Mar 2005 07:18:14 GMT, Panzer240 wrote: wrote in news:1111703132.075337.47200 : I will take a look at Ham-Radio to see if it will support the Icom PCR1000. You might also look at Talk PCR although development has stopped on it. Also if you are interested in listening to Trunk Radio, you can try Trunk PCR. Any software that works on the 1000 will work with the 100. The extra
features the 1000 has will be ignored by the 100... "bakermo" wrote in message ... You must mean you use it with the PCR-1000. That's not entirely correct. The PCR-1000 operates at 38,400 bps and the
PCR-100 at 9600 bps. While the commands for the radios are similar, the program has to at least know how to slow down the serial port to work with the PCR-100. "Jim Hackett" wrote in message .net... I have tried my PCR-100 with Ham Radio Deluxe and can not seem to get
it to work. The comment from the author in the forum sections of the web site states he will not support the PCR-100. If your 's works with Ham Radio Deluxe how do you set up the options? If I select the ICOM PCR-1000 from the menu it just doesn't work. Bakermo On Sat, 14 May 2005 07:51:33 GMT, "Jim Hackett" wrote: Ihave both a 100 and a 1000. They both work with thesame programs...
