BTW they didnt have any books at RS, they dont carry books anymore

Except on really outstanding days, those antennas are totally inadequate.

Heck! Even inside the square metal tube I live in I can get much stuff day and
night, using just the telescoping antennas on all my radios, from the DX-392
down. And I live near Galveston Bay in SE Texas.

I was beginning to wonder if you lived in one of those magnetic anomolies where
signals don't go in or out. Those exist all over the US.

What kind of metal tube? The kind with wheels? I also live in a Farady
cage and can't get much of anything off a whip.
