After all, the man who prosecuted him for pot possession said, "It's another example of a career wasted over extremely poor judgment. It boggles the mind." Poor Judgment Mikey. Hey, that's got a certain ring to it! That, or "One-hit-then-brush-it-off-the-table-to-conceal-the-evidence Mikey. It's really kind of funny - in sort of the same way Cheech and Chong was funny. Until you realized he threw away a college Profeesorship -- all for pot. Now wonder he posts such bitter invective - he's a bitter man! Just so Doobie Mike doesn't accuse me of being a liar, here's the story: http://www.wsusignpost.com/vnews/dis...0?in_archive=1 Bryant pleads guilty by Tanna Barry | editor in chief November 28, 2001 Former Weber State University professor and debate coach Michael Bryant pleaded guilty Tuesday to two of the three class B misdemeanors that he was charged with in Iron County. In exchange for Bryant's guilty plea, the prosecution dropped one of three charges. A $550 fine was imposed as punishment for the remaining charges, according to minutes of the plea hearing at the 5th District Court. Iron County prosecutor Scott Burns said this is the standard punishment for someone who is charged with class B misdemeanors and has no prior drug convictions. "This was wholly appropriate," he said. "I think justice was served." Bryant, 43, resigned from his positions at WSU after news of the three charges spread. The charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with arrest stem from a drug incident on Oct. 6 while the debate team was competing in a tournament in Cedar City. The initial charge of interfering with arrest was changed to obstruction of justice, also a class B misdemeanor, and was dropped in exchange for his guilty plea. Bryant had no comment after the court made its ruling Tuesday afternoon. He told the newspaper previously that he didn't know if he would accept the plea agreement. Since that time, Burns said he was approached by Bryant and Barnes about creating an alternate plea agreement that would further lessen the charges in exchange for other information. In previous stories, Bryant has said that he was "taking the fall" for other people. However, Burns told The Signpost Tuesday that he wasn't interested in the information they were going to provide because it wouldn't lead to the charges of other individuals. "He received no more or no less than anyone else would have in this type of case," Burns said. Bryant has said that what's happened has given him the chance to move on with his life. He had worked at WSU for 14 years and said he was growing more and more unhappy with his job. He is working at a different job and trying to save enough money to move closer to his family in Kentucky. Burns said, "It's another example of a career wasted over extremely poor judgment. It boggles the mind." Yes, indeed, Pot Lovin' Mikey boggles the mind. Hey - he was even going to "rat" on his co - criminals!
