Just read them, then wait for the pros here to give you expert advice. I don't know jack about the science of rechargeables. I went to WalMart and got an Energizer AccuCharger and some Duracell 1800 mAh NiMH batteries. http://www.nimhbattery.com/mhc401fs.htm http://www.ccrane.com/quick_charger.asp |

(Tom Welch), while facing east, summoned the
courage to declaim: Could someone tell me what is the best rechargeable AA batteries and charger available today? Links to websites would be very much appreciated. The "best" (highest-capacity) batteries are the Powerex 2200 mAh. In fact Powerex is usually the best or close to it for any given mAh rating class. The best value-for-money is probably Lenmar. Their actual capacity is a good bit lower than their rated capacity, but Lenmar batteries are so cheap that they are excellent value. I bought a pack of 10 Lenmar "2000 mAh" (which are really around 1800 mAh) for about US$10. Extensive battery reviews at: http://www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/BATTS/BATTS.HTM -- Dogs flew spaceships! I'd shy away from those that claim to charge in one hour or less. I have one
(Everyready) and the batteries get REALLY hot. I feel (but have no empirical proof) that I will get better long term results with the ones that take a few hours and run cooler. I have a MAHA and like it. |

You are right. Testing has been done. Slow chargers are much better for
batteries. "BOEING377" wrote in message ... I'd shy away from those that claim to charge in one hour or less. I have one (Everyready) and the batteries get REALLY hot. go to mcmelectronics.com their sale flyer this month offers AA and AAA
NimH for about $1.39 per cell #58-9295 yodar "William Mutch" wrote in message ell.edu... In article , says... Could someone tell me what is the best rechargeable AA batteries and charger available today? I bought a Sunpak. the 1800 mah batteries are fine but the charger sucks...overheats both itself and the batteries and it's operated by a timer rather than by smart circuitry to charge fast at first and then taper off slow towarT full charge.. Do not buy this model. |

In article ,
says... Could someone tell me what is the best rechargeable AA batteries and charger available today? The best charger for AA batteries is the Maha MH-C401FS. It will rapid charge the highest capacity batteries in about two hours or slow charge in five or six hours. It has four individual charge circuits, performing advanced monitoring on each cell to be sure it doesn't overcharge. It also offers a "FLEX negative pulse charging algorithm", which I know sounds like marketing BS, but it does seem to work. It has revived batteries my other chargers treated as dead. I got mine at www.thomas- distributing.com. For batteries I recommend www.batteryspace.com. If you're willing to back off a bit from the highest capacity and don't mind buying in larger quantities, you can get AA's for about $1 each. 2000mAH in lots of 24 for $24.99. I won't claim they're the best batteries available, but it's hard to argue about the price. -- Jay |
