I've bought small items from them, but have never ordered by mail any radio, so did not comment on topic. But as far as the slender blond with the high heels goes, I've seen her there and she's one of the hottest ladies in amateur radio, but I don't think she has a license. She's probably in her 40's. Yep, as noted above, I guessed she was somewhere in her 40's. Have you seen the gal in the Burghart advertisements? Wow! No, I haven't. I'll have to keep my eyes open for it. 8-) Dwight Stewart (W5NET) http://www.qsl.net/w5net/ |

Is this her? If so, you're right! http://www.universal-radio.com/tour1.html http://www.universal-radio.com/tour2.html It's hard to tell if the picture in the catalog and the pictures on the web site are of the same woman. None of the pictures are close-ups of the face. Regardless, the woman on the web site certainly does fill out that top very nicely. Dwight Stewart (W5NET) http://www.qsl.net/w5net/ |

I think Michael was talking about the picture in the catalog (as 20-30 years ago), not the pictures on the web site. The woman in the catalog is much younger looking - perhaps the same woman, but an older picture of her. Dwight Stewart (W5NET) http://www.qsl.net/w5net/ |

they are very good on returns, my friend bought a used antenna from them, sent it back and they did not charge him a restocking fee. there is one dealer www.radios4you.com /(electronic-specialties on eBay) that does not give refunds under most situations. from their website: 5. All Sales Final. Sorry we do not offer a satisfaction warranty and do not accept returns. Reasonable attempts will be made to provide an upgrade solution if requested and the original product is returned in new condition. A 25% restocking fee will be deducted for returns without explicit e-mail approval. I purchased a hand held antenna from Burghardt and was charged $15.00 for
UPS Ground. They don't notify of shipping charges until you receive it, at least the time I ordered. Honestly that was my problem since I didn't ask. The truth of it is, that is far to expensive to charge. Keep product costs down, make up the difference in shipping I guess. "Dave Heil" wrote in message ... (snip) I've had mixed results with Universal Radio - one order went well and another didn't. I've had slightly better results with Burghardt (www.burghardt-amateur.com) and their prices are often better. However, since you added a shortwave newsgroup to your message, I should point out that their primary focus is on Amateur Radio, with very little shortwave equipment. I've had less than pleasant experiences with Universal. The staff seems almost surly and almost equally unfamiliar with the equipment they sell. Prices are higher, by quite a margin, over other dealers. My personal preference is R&L Electronics in Hamilton, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati. Dave K8MN |

I noticed your message was posted from "news.uni-berlin.de." You are in the United States, right? If not, $15 is not excessive to ship something to Germany. However, if you're in the USA, you're right that $15 is a little high. However, I don't know why they would charge that. If I remember correctly, they only charged me about $15 (also UPS ground) when they shipped two handheld radios with extra batteries and chargers. Perhaps they have a minimum shipping charge or something. Honestly that was my problem since I didn't ask. Well, it is certainly a good idea to get all the details before ordering - something I would recommend with any mail-order transaction. The truth of it is, that is far too expensive to charge. I've only ordered from them once, but my experience was generally
good. Shipping charges were listed up front ($4.95 to ship a Kaito radio, not bad...), and my order arrived in good condition. Turns out I'm not crazy about the radio, but that's not their fault. I'd probably buy from them again. jm "Rusty in Louisville" wrote in message ... I would like to get some opinions about Universal Radio, Inc., located in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
