Just enough snow here to be a nuisance, but the skiers will be happy.... |

Sorry Linda, they do not broadcast to the USA, but they are often audible here. I do see that they mention in the B03 sked that the West Coast USA is targeted, but notice that even in the A04 sked that the beam headings are the same even though the West Coast USA is not mentioned. They do not 'intentionally' broadcast to the USA. |

Linda Pennsylvania, USA They broadcast 'towards' the US but not officially 'to' the US. Like most countries, RNZI registers their frequencies for a certain area, in this case the South Pacific. However that doesn't mean the signal stops there. If the beam heading is generally towards your location, you'll probably hear the signal, providing the propagation conditions will support the frequency being used. The trick to shortwave listening is knowing (learning) what frequencies will propagate to your area from various parts of the world and at what time of day. Here are a few websites with information about shortwave propagation: A simple shortwave propagation primer: http://www.ae4rv.com/tn/propflash.htm An introduction to shortwave propagation: http://www.ips.gov.au/Category/Educa...HF%20Radio.pdf An extensive list of shortwave propagation websites: http://members.fortunecity.com/xe1bef/propagation.htm -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |
