The biggest difference is that CB didn't have self-appointed jerks

It was worse. There were drunks running around cutting people's antenna
feeds. Fights in parking lots. Gunplay on the highways.

"Catch ya on the flip flop"...morons....

There was an incident in Portland during the height of the CB craze that
involved cutting coax and murder.. Someone got really irritated at someone
who was a total and unrelenting asshole and decided to go to his house and
cut his coax. Deciding once he got there to confront the person, he banged
on the door and promptly had a double barrelled shotgun unloaded on him
through the closed door..

The proper way is to put a pin in the coax to short it out.

During the craze, people used to steal CBs from cars.

When the craze was over, a guy put his linear in the front seat of his car. He
parked at a shopping mall and left the window open so someone would take the
unwanted linear.

When he came back the car was gone, but the linear was laying in the middle of
the parking space.

A good replay of an old musician's joke:

An accordian player leaves his accordian in his car on a summer day,
with the doors unlocked. He goes into a restaurant, and midway through
the meal realizes he forgot to lock his car. He runs back outside, but
too late . . . there are already three more accordians in his car.
