Iran foreign service reduces shortwave, expands satellite TV
Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) continues its policy of phasing out shortwave broadcasts to some parts of the world, while expanding international TV broadcasting in foreign languages. Some services, such as German, have left shortwave completely, while English shortwave broadcasts are now beamed only to Africa and Asia. The broadcasts at 2130-2230, 0130-0230 and 0230-0330 UTC are via Internet only. Iran's international television service Sahar TV now features news and streaming video on its Website in English, Arabic, Bosnian, French, Azari, Kurdish, Russian and Urdu. Sahar TV broadcasts on the Hotbird satellite at 13E, 12.437 GHz H, SR 27500, FEC 3/4. The foreign language radio programmes of IRIB are also available on this transponder. (Media Network) |
