Watkins-Johnson WJ-8711A vs ....
Hiya...
I've always been curious to know what it would be like to use a magabuck professional rig like the Watkins-Johnson WJ-8711A for DX'ing. Take an R8 or an R-75 and assume that the antenna will be a 200ft long wire with coax feed, balun and proper grounding. Using radios in that class as a comparison point, what extra would I get out of a rig like the WJ-8711A for DX'ing in comparison using the same antenna ??? Also.. Can/Should a rig in the class of a WJ-8711A be hooked up to an antenna that is so large that it would overload an R8 or R-75 ??? Thanx !!!! -- Respectfully, Michael Location: Northern NJ Primary Radio: R-75 with full Kiwa mods. Antennas: 200ft "Frankenstein" roof wire, G5RV Additional Radios:GE Super Radio III, PL-550, KA-1101, KA-1102, Kaiwa KA-989, Info-Mate 837, Westinghouse H-104 (seven tube) Home Page: http://md_dxing.tripod.com/ |
