Looks as though Denmark may actually be represented on shortwave again!
This is certainly good news for those who have not heard and/or verified Denmark. DENMARK. I check the World Music Radio website periodically, and as of April 11 it has not been updated from the message that they hoped to start broadcasting in March. Obviously the schedule has slipped, as it has time and time again. On April 13, an update was found (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST) In August 2003 permission to use 5815 and 15810 kHz was granted by the authorities in Denmark. A 10 kW and a 1 kW transmitter were ordered from a company in Canada to be delivered around Christmas 2003. New offices and a new on-air studio were completed February 2004, and after more than 3 months of delay the short wave transmitters finally arrived in mid April 2004. Meanwhile new aerials had been erected near Karup in Central Jutland, Denmark, and the first test transmissions are due late April 2004. Besides Short Wave, WMR will also be available worldwide via the Internet and locally in Denmark on FM (from http://www.wmr.dk via DXLD) WMR SHORTWAVE TRANSMITTER ARRIVES IN DENMARK Stig Hartvig Nielsen of World Music Radio (WMR) tells us that the 10 kW shortwave transmitter he ordered has finally arrived in Denmark, and is currently on the dockside in Copenhagen. It's hoped that test transmissions on shortwave can now begin in a matter of weeks. Two frequencies, 5815 and 15810 kHz, have been registered. Besides shortwave, WMR will also be available worldwide via the Internet and locally in Denmark on FM. I recall a World Music Radio from the Netherlands from the late sixties (associated with R. Nederland? I'm not sure) and have been missing R. Denmark since it went off the air last December. It would be nice to hear something from Denmark again. I just emailed the WMR folks and got a nice note back. They mentioned considerable delays during the past month or so but said they hope to start test transmissions next week on 5815. They promised to send me details of a test schedule and I'll be glad to post it to r.r.s. if/when received. ---- |

Stig Nielsen of the WMR staff says that the most likely times will be from the U.S. west coast sunset to around sunrise local Denmark time next week. If anything more substantive comes through I'll forward it here. ---- |

And this from the latest Worldwide DX Club Top News:
DENMARK Stig Hartvig Nielsen of World Music Radio (WMR) tells us that the 10 kW SW tx he ordered has finally arrived in Denmark, and is currently on the dockside in Copenhagen. It's hoped that test txions on SW can now begin in a matter of weeks. Two freqs, 5815 and 15810 kHz, have been registered. Besides SW, WMR will also be available worldwide via the Internet and locally in Denmark on FM. (RNW MN NL, Apr 12) (Is this the same station that broadcast from Radio Andorra from August 28, 1976?...Mike) Sure it is. Poul Foged (known as Paul Dane on air) will be doing some shows for them. Stig was not involved officially with WMR at that time, though he was part of the same circle of friends. Robin King (Lee Alvin) must be well in his 60's, and I don't think he will be participating this time, though once it gets on the air, you never know. Both Poul and Stig are professional broadcasters in Denmark now ...
