Default *Super398* or Modded DX394

I'm a member of BOTH of those yahoo groups and have posted my scenario two or
three times and have asked a simple question and no one is giving an answer
(as of 3 minutes ago) for two or three days.

I have both receivers and want to use both of them for shortwave BUT......I
also want to use the receivers on my turntable for my two BIGGER loops. I took
the 394 out on the deck and just sat it (like I always did with my rat shack
loops) on the table in front of the loop and got some results of course, but
the filtering is definitely lacking for serious BCB dxing on the 394 especially
and also on the 398 with Loops of this size on big tables that swing around.

Would a modded 398 into a *Super* outperform a modded 394. Just from my
reading the groups and google and looking at filtering and specs, it looks
hands down to have the 398 modded by RadioLabs.

I don't want the internal loopstick disable unless they can include a toggle so
I can bring it back when I want. Anyone (Stinger maybe) that has had
experience with RadioLabs, can you give me your opinion? I really want to take
advantage of my nice BCB setup with a digital and phones for solid verification
reports, but still listen to my shortwave.

Can I give them instructions (RadioLabs) as to what I'm looking for, or is
there a 'set' list of mods and that's it?

Please RRS come through and help out a brother in need here...lol....member of
two yahoo groups (I think I'm gonna cancel or just read and never post there
again) of the said receivers and it's like pulling teeth to get a freekin'
answer. All the thread titles on the 398 group are on
'programming'......sheesh.....program it, it don't take an Einstein.

end of rant
TIA

If you use loops with the 398, I don't think increasing the SW sensitivity will
really do much good since the loop will overide the reciever's weakness. The RF
gain to zero mod might be more useful. Just my opinion.

I've sent off emails to CJustic and Lowbander. We'll see.

No reply from Lowbander, I cut n pasted that mail and sent it to CJustice, I'm
sure he'll respond.

I'm just getting varying opinions, Tom makes some good points, it's just hard
for me to picture a modded 398 with the little room being better compared to a
modded 394.

If for anything else, size wise. But I don't know if even that much room is
needed for these mods. {?} We'll see what Chris says.

I guess if Lowbander doesn't answer the email, he loses out 'just because.' ;-)
