[ OT ] Is Environmentalism a religion?
Read the whole article: http://www.sepp.org/NewSEPP/GW-Aliens-Crichton.html ( excerpt below) In past centuries, the greatest killer of women was fever following childbirth . One woman in six died of this fever. In 1795, Alexander Gordon of Aberdeen suggested that the fevers were infectious processes, and he was able to cure them. The consensus said no. In 1843, Oliver Wendell Holmes claimed puerperal fever was contagious, and presented compelling evidence. The consensus said no. In 1849, Semmelweiss demonstrated that sanitary techniques virtually eliminated puerperal fever in hospitals under his management. The consensus said he was a Jew, ignored him, and dismissed him from his post. There was in fact no agreement on puerperal fever until the start of the twentieth century. Thus the consensus took one hundred and twenty five years to arrive at the right conclusion despite the efforts of the prominent "skeptics" around the world, skeptics who were demeaned and ignored. And despite the constant ongoing deaths of women. His intent is to make you think, considering ideas outside the herd... NOT follow the herd your already in.. You'll see that in the 1970's that the fear was "Global Cooling." It was actually a cover story for Time magazine. And you'll see that that research was sponsored by the CIA to counter global warming scientists who were starting to emerge in the early 70's. Some of the reports even encouraged CO2 emissions to "balance out" cooling trends. Do a search on a guy named Idso. The CIA?!! Good grief, Michael -- whenever the evidence goes against the liberal belief system, they start seeing black helicopters. The problem with liberal "environmentalists" is that their belief system can arguably be called a religion. That's why you have a tough time with data that doesn't fit your belief system. Don't take my word for it, though. Here are some remarks by Michael Crichton (author of "The Terminal Man" and "The Andromeda Strain") that are very thought-provoking. -- Stinger Remarks to the Commonwealth Club By Michael Crichton San Francisco September 15, 2003 GREAT POST!!!!
