(Does anyone know if the commentaries will also be broadcast on shortwave?)
Saturday, June 05, 2004 BBC Radio Five Live has held on to the rights to broadcast live commentaries on football (soccer) matches in the FA Premiership games until 2007. And, in a move which will be welcomed by Premiership fans outside the United Kingdom, commentary rights have been extended to the Internet from next season, meaning coverage will be available on the BBC Sport website for the first time. BBC director of sport Peter Salmon told BBC news "This contract completes the best and biggest football portfolio the BBC has ever owned. Our new Premier League online service compliments Five Live's acclaimed coverage perfectly. From Match of the Day to Euro 2004, from the FA Cup to all England's home matches, from the Internet to the World Cup in 2006, licence payers now have a truly comprehensive free-to-air football service for the first time." # posted by Andy Sennitt on Media Network http://medianetwork.blogspot.com/ |
