The email was sent in an expectation of privacy and was a request
NOT to bother his employers. A public disclosure of it is about the
same as a wire tap on an unknowing person. It stinks.

How would you feel if someone close to you lost a job because of
some unimportant newsgroup BS?

Yup, ratting to someones employer about some Usenet BS would warrant an
ass kicking. Beware people, what comes around goes around.

You may want to extract your head from your butt. Whether its true or not
what happened to Bryant, ratting to an employer is as low as you can go.

What kind of job exposes you to termination because of a silly
flame-war on
usenet?

Most of them if your posting from work.

See my other post regarding "University" jobs...

I doubt they're any different.

You should check it out - Don't just take my word for it.
Every university system that I've heard about, either through a friend who
attended or through one of the projects I've worked on, is *very* liberal
with connections to the commodity internet. The only restrictions I've
seen is to manage bandwidth to certain nodes. I have yet to see or hear of
*any* censorship or similar usage restrictions on any *statutorily legal*
content.

If MWB suffered *any* sanction via his University employer, it's a fairly
safe bet it wasn't due to his on-line activites, unless they were patently
illegal (ie kiddie-porn). I doubt very seriously he was involved with that
type of activity.

I actually don't think *anything* has happened to him as he has been so
prone to deception, diversion and misleading tactics in the past that I
have no rational reason to believe that he's not playing each and every
one of you for a fool now.

If you want to buy into his load of tripe, by all means go ahead - I have
no problem with it. What I *do* have a problem with is when you cop an
attitude when I horse-laugh you for falling for it.

I know this is just usenet, but "get real"...

I just called the Louisville Tech 800 number and the woman I spoke to told me
he was still employed there.

She then directed me to his voice mail (I did not leave a message).

Just another darn interesting day!

Yes we may never know the real truth. But unless you can prove otherwise,
the laugh may be on you.

You said, "Whether it is true or not..."

You appear ready, able and more than willing to bitch, moan and complain
and *pass judgement* - even if it is *untrue*? Is that what you are
saying?

Pardon me while I release some stifled "guffaws" at your expense?

Do you not agree that getting someone in trouble with their employer is very
low behavior? Should be any easy question.

What's to rat?

He wasn't doing anything criminal.

Why would the employer care?

Hilarious too, when you count all of his kindred souls falling for his
ruse...

Perhaps we're being duped. He probably got called on the carpet at the most.
Still, leave peoples family and employer out of Usenet, PERIOD!

If he were posting on Co. time perhaps. Then again, it could all be a farce.

Yup. Bryant's post calling for the shooting of conservatives was, in my own
opinion, lower than low, and indicative of serious underlying problems.
