You are all old couch sitting tube thumpers
It appears the UPLC (United Powerline council) does not value people that enjoy tube radios. This from a group of people that use glass insulators and old wooden power poles to send hi-speed internet. http://www.uplc.utc.org/?cbr_v=dcb&n...nten tbrowser or http://tinyurl.com/35ptp |

And I'm as guilty as any; for years, I've been sitting on my ass in an armchair! Well, what kind of logic could you expect from a CEO named Moron(ey)? Ed wb6wsn |

Unique applications will improve the efficiency and reliability of electric service to utility customers as well as promote broadband competition for consumers, carriers and ISPs - saving lives, reducing electric generation costs, remedying the digital divide and conquering the DSL- cable duopoly." Wow! This stuff can do anything except restore virginity. And I'm sure they're working on that little problem. |

Forcefully -- not truthfully or accurately but -- FORCEFULLY! "... as well as promote broadband competition for consumers, carriers and ISPs - saving lives, " BPL saves lives! What could be more important than that? "... ignore "armchair amateurs that still use vacuum tube transmitters" " Ignore the power companies that still burn coal to make steam! ""BPL is an exciting technology with a promising future, but it's dependent on the FCC to develop rules that will encourage companies to deploy systems.." No new rules are needed, because: "...the risk of interference from BPL is extraordinarily low, ..." Sounds like the Cranky Old Hams have struck a nerve!! Frank Dresser |

Did you compose that wonderful example of convoluted logic before, or after, you got drunk with the rest of the chain-smoking boys at the ham club meeting or the VFW Post? |

Frank Dresser I hate to have to say this Frank but I fear that it is about time that we set up the: C ranky O ld R adio P articipating S ociety E xtended Motto: Just don't do something; lie there. Requirement for SWLs: Have conclusively proved that a 5-tube AC-DC superhet really does have a hot chassis. Requirement for Hams: Minimum of one RF burn. Extra points for burn thru fingernail or thumbnail. Dues: if you haven't already paid them, what are you doing /here/? Recruiting Slogan: Why, yes; actually we /are/ as stupid as we look. [snip] Not only survived close encounters with the Hot Chassis, but I might have been killed several times over by fully active 5U4s. Yet I survived, thanks to BPL. But how? Isn't BPL a new invention, far more recent than my clumsy repair efforts? Don't we have a temporal anomoly here? Consider that BPL will provide reliable broadband powerline access to everybody at a very low price. BPL will make power lines quieter. BPL saves lives. And I'm now sure the Rules of Time present no barrier to BPL. I now realize that BPL exists outside the world of known physics. BPL has found a portal into the world of magical psudeoscience commonly found on Saturday morning cartoons and Star Trek episodes. Frank Dresser |
