I don't think it will have much effect if the wires on the dipole cross
the wire at pretty much right angles.

Though there could still be a bit of residual pick up I don't think
you'd notice it.

Do some experimentation if you can by disconnecting and/or dropping the
wire and see what happens.

why would anyone listen to a horses ass such as yourself?

He's got alot of technical knowledge but he seems to have the social
skills of a Neanderthal. Typical ham, probably a loner who can't
communicate on a one to one basis. No family because he can't relate
to anyone else except himself. That's why he uses radio and this
medium to communicate with others. If he insulted people in real life
the way he does here he would be put in his place with a good shot to
the face.
