Any idea what the Eton E1 XM radio is going to sell for when it hits the
market ??? Also... How exactly does satellite service for portable radio work ??? Is there a release code that you punch up into the radio once you've paid for the service or a card with an electronic code on it that you stick into the radio someplace ??? -- Respectfully, Michael Location: New Jersey Primary Receiver: R-75 with full Kiwa mods Antennas: G5RV, 200ft "Frankenstein" roof wire Additional Radios: KA-1101,KA-1102,PL-550, KA-989, Info-Mate 837, GE-SR III Westinghouse H-104 (seven tube) Web Site: http://md_dxing.tripod.com |

If they are anything like the satellite radios they sell here in Korea, they are addressable, like a cable box. You give them the serial number or MAC number off the receiver and they enable it over the satellite. |

The radio has a unique serial number so it can be programmed over the air. When purchased new, an XM receiver can only get a "preview" channel and one sample channel from each category (e.g. country, rock, talk radio, etc). When you subscribe, you furnish your radio's serial number and leave it running for a while. The remaining channels are enabled and then you have full service for as long as you subscribe. |
