I went back to 880 a few minutes ago (about 0438 or so) and WCBS 880 was in a fade and I heard CKLQ in Manitoba. Hadn't heard them in a while. Last time I really recall (I'm not a MW'er by the way) was driving up to Mt. Pleasant, MI one night a few years ago during some beautiful aurora and CKLQ was blasting in like a local. 1010 WINS Might be them underneath CFRB, Toronto. 1050 WEVD Only hearing CHUM in Toronto here w/oldies. 1130 WBBR Believe I have them based on mentions of NY and NJ, but under a sports station, so not sure. 1560 WQEW Yes, them w/Radio Disney dxAce Michigan Using the R8B 200' W-E wire. |

The daytime reception via ground wave has no fading while the night time signals have the typical fading caused by skywave propagation interfering with the ground wave signal. I'm using a Drake-R8 with a 60-ft longwire. My QTH is about 200-miles north of NYC. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |

Curious to see how far some of the local (NYC) 50 kilowatt mw stations can be heard with regularity and/or if they have been heard very far away from time to time... Anyone outside the area please respond with comment and location. 660 WFAN Lost in the splatter of one of the local sport babblers. 710 WOR I can make out a carrier on most nights. Sometime it punches through. It's adjacent to WGN, which is very strong here. 770 WBC Reception similiar to WOR, but this one's right next to WBBM. 880 WCBS Easy catch most nights, despite being next to WLS. 1010 WINS I get a carrier sometime, but it's next to one of the other sport babblers. I assume the carrier is from CFRB. CFRB came in quite well when the old WCFL shut down every week early on Monday morning. I've nulled out AM 1000 with a loop antenna and also received CFRB. 1050 WEVD Whatever's between WHO and KYW is unlistenable. I suppose it's them and CHUM fighting it out. 1130 WBBR Don't know. 1560 WQEW Don't know. -- Respectfully, Michael I live in the Chicago area. For whatever reason, many of the New York allocations are right next to the Chicago allocations. It's not always easy to hear NY stations here, even though the night time distance isn't much by AM broadcast band standards. Frank Dresser |

770 - KUOM.
Here's their webpage: http://radiok.cce.umn.edu/radiok/ "Radio K," as it's known. I don't listen much - not my cup of tea. I listen more to KSTP and WWTC. 73, -- Steve Lawrence KAØPMD Burnsville, Minnesota (NOTE: My email address has only one "dot." I listen more to KSTP and WWTC. We have WUOM (University of Michigan) here out of Ann Arbor, which is an FM outlet, with a few relays. (I catch the BBC overnight on their relay which is WVGR in Grand Rapids). They carry NPR, which I can listen to at times... sometimes not! dxAce 73, -- Steve Lawrence KAØPMD Burnsville, Minnesota (NOTE: My email address has only one "dot." Guess why? 60 Minutes is doing an interview piece on O'Reilly Sunday night. So, you see? All of the pieces fit together -- thanks to radio! 73, -- Steve Lawrence KAØPMD Burnsville, Minnesota (NOTE: My email address has only one "dot."
