Hi dxAce
It looks like I can't get LP down here. At least not since I've been trying. I'm no lame even though I'm only doing "our thing" for 8 months. But, I've learned a great deal and have good equipment. I guess I have to catch him under the best conditions. Hey, I pick up plenty of good DX stations down here in Florida but no luck for Lucky so far with LP. Lucky "dxAce" wrote in message ... GO BEARCATS wrote: Beats me, but it's incorrect. Incorrect to me would mean that the LP didn't sign on at that time and on those freqs. But they did. ;-) Well, I checked 5746 after receiving your post and they were not there. They were however on 11545, 9251 and 6959 at 2200 s/on as monitored here. I've not known them to use more than 3 frequencies at once, nor have I seen any loggings that would suggest that they do. You did post your observation under a URL for a schedule that is known to be incorrect. As I stated before, beats me. It might have been an error. dxAce Michigan USA |

Just another repeat of yesterday for me so far.

Hey Lucky, I'm sure you've mentioned it ...but I missed it. What receiver and what type of antenna are you using. I heard LP on two of the three incorrect freqs yesterday on a Hammarlund 129X with a 600ft. tract of wire and on my modded DX-394 on an Alpha Delta sloper roughly 60 ft. high. Keep trying, you'll hear it. If I can hear LP on the wrong freqs, I'm sure you can hear them on the correct ones. ;-) |

Hi
Ok right now I'm using my JRC NRD-525 with a 35 Ft dipole and a 4:1 Current balun coupled with a MFJ-959 pre-amp/tuner. I don't use the tuner that often. As you know it amps the noise too along with the signal so I use only it when absolutely neccessary. I'm on the 23rd floor of a building so I get good signals. That's your problem... you're using a dipole. A dipole is for use on a very narrow range of frequencies. Now, using the tuner, you might get a better match to the receiver. My suggestion would be to use a single wire, and match it with a transformer. I think you might get better broadband performance from that. However, you may be somewhat limited being on a 23rd floor. That's not so lucky, no pun intended. dxAce Michigan USA |

good signals. Good deal, you can have quite the setup living up that high. I also have a 4:1 balun, for whatever reason...I only used it once and it went into the closet. I got it out last week. To you and the more knowledgable in here. What exactly would a 4:1 balun be used for? I figured to string up some wire or dipole and be able to run coax into your shack. I'm sure there is a better reason. ;-) |
