Ask dx'tard how a bath -or at least a shower- works on cooling down... ;-) Has that thing an external voltage connector for 12 volts? If yes, get a good power supply and that's it. While I love Kenwood HF gear, I have noticed that Kenwood really cheaps out on heatsinks. My R2000 has two 7805 regulator ICs that run so hot you can not touch them. I added addtional heatsinking, 2 TO-220 per IC, from above they form an "H", and this lowered the temp by over 40F. My R2000 is operated from an exteranl (Lambda) 12V supply that also charges a gell cell. The stock built in supply puts out almost 15V. Terry |
