![]() George: My R-5000 runs warm, not hot. You can run any R-5000 on 12 volts. You can make the adaptor yourself. E-mail me for details. TNX for the idea of running it from external 12V. The only thing I don't have is the 12V plug which plugs into the Kenwood. Where can one get one? Worse comes to worse I can replace their plug with something I have.... BTW its even warm when not turned on, been like ever since I"ve owned it which as been about 6 years. Excellent radio, preforms almost as well on HF as my new Yaesu FT-847's receive.
