Agree, poor conditions. Here on the east coast / U.S
However, there are brighter spots, at 13:30 UTC, am currently picking up Radio Australia on 9.580; Dan / NYC ( R-75 & 100 foot random Wire) In article , "Mike Terry" writes: Subject: Propagation conditions From: "Mike Terry" Date: Sun, 17 Oct 2004 06:13:54 +0000 (UTC) This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_00E6_01C4B418.DDE4F140 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Propagation conditions. Propagation conditions on the HF bands have been = relatively poor for the season. Average daily sunspot number rose this = week from last, jumping over 17 points to 38.1. Average daily solar flux = was almost the same. Solar activity has been very low, and fortunately = geomagnetic indices are also low. So, some sporadic openings to South = Africa on 28 MHz have been reported by Bulgarian hams. DX signals come = through mostly on 21, 18, 14 and 10 MHz at the appropriate times, = although rather weak. Apparently, the 18 MHz band seems to be the best = DX band at present. A slight increase in solar flux is predicted for = October 15-16, when it may rise to around 105. Watch the 28 and 24 MHz = bands, perhaps they will produce some DX. If the bands look empty, don't = just listen but call CQ! It may be rewarding! http://www.bnr.bg/RadioBulgaria/Emis...ogramme/Mater= ial/dx-15+oct.htm |
