Default YB400PE power glitch

I just acquired a Grundig YB400PE that had been a display model at
RadioShack. Works great, but I can only seem to run it off of batteries
-- if I plug it in, the "battery check" display starts flashing and the
radio won't let me do anything. What's up with that? Can I fix it or
should I return it?

Are the batteries new? My YB-400 shuts off when using mains power
if the batteries are low. You don't want to use battery power much unless
you have 2 sets of high capacity rechargeables... the YB400 eats alkalines
like mad.

They are new. But it turns out that I was connecting it to the wrong
wall wart -- the radio lives on my computer desk (probably because I'm a
glutton for RFI punishment) and there's a lot of stray cables around.

Silly me...

Glad you got it working. Enjoy : )
