An estimate I saw said Heroin production was up by 800 (eight hundred)
percent since the CIA took over the operations. Most of the crap winds
up in Europe. The original drug training for the farmers was done by
the CIA in order to get Russian soldiers addicted and demoralized. A
profitable little sideline quickly followed.

The Taliban didn't like drug usage/production, so they pretty well put
an end to all of it...another reason they had to go.

Wrong. We PAID them to curtail opium production! Powell approved an
estimated $60mill directly to the Taliban for their efforts to limit
production just a few years ago. It is Afghanistan's only major export, and
they will not just stop it unless they are paid greater value to do so. Why
should they? It's our stinking habits, not Afghanistan's or Columbia's or
any other producer's problem.

Actually, it's up since Clinton stopped the Serbians from shutting down
Muslim drug operations there. It was known that that area was a major
part of the heroin route to the USA.

Silly me. I thought the Golden Crescent area of the Far East supplied
the States more than any other exporter. They probably ship through
the Serb areas, however.

The US military was caught here a few years back (Edmonton Alberta)
with a sealed engine container full of Hashish. They had departed from
Germany. Nice setup..no customs or dogs to worry about. I don't know
who ratted on them.
