Default Etón E10 or E 100

Has anyone purchased one of the new radios? If so, what is the word?
I thought there would be more interest or is everyone waiting on the E
1?

I have a PL-550 and I like it quite a bit. It is the same radio as the E10.
The audio quality is very good and it is fairly sensitive. It has a lot of
nice features including an IF shift switch and an antenna trim. It also has
a tuning knob which is very good for exploring the bands. Best of all, it
was only about $60.00. As I understand it the E10, which is the same radio
as the PL-550 is selling for about $130.00. I'd say get the PL-550 and save
a few bucks. :-) If you wanted to get the best portable in the $100 to $150
price range, nix the E10 and get a Sony 7600gr. If you wanted to spend less
then $100.00 and still get a good radio with lots of features, get the
PL-550 and live with the Chinese markings. For $60.00, the PL-550 is a
great value. At about $130, the E10 is not over priced, and it is still a
good radio, but you can do better for your money.

Does the Tecsun PL-550 / E100 employ "Dual Conversion"?
If not stay away!

The cheapest radio I would even look at is a Sony ICF-SW35 which goes for
about $85.
Dual Conversion
50 Memories
Memory & Band Scanning
Very easy to use.
AND it actually works, as a Sony should.

No... It is single conversion. Surprisingly, it does better then expected
for a single conversion radio. As you would expect, you'll notice an image
or two here and there when you use a substantial external antenna, but it is
moderate. The IF shift control helps out when you do encounter an image or
intermod. Even though it is a single conversion radio, it is still quite
usable. Again... I want to say that I think it has great audio quality. I
like it a lot for program listening or just exploring the bands with the
tuning knob. The PL-550 is a good value. The E10 should be selling for
under $100.000 though.
