I would look for a nice used Sony SW77. It's a great portable! I've had the
Super DX-398. DeWayne "roystr" wrote in message ups.com... nt |

How about the YB400 Grundig at HeartlandAmerica,Com? They were only
asking a hundred bucks the last time I looked. That's bang for the buck. Darren http://community-2.webtv.net/DEMEM/L...mes/page2.html |

I haven't owned a 909 but have heard controversial discussions about the
"Super" mods that the vendor peddles. Therefor I stayed away as it is over priced IMO. My philosophy is that if it requires numerous or expensive mods that is a sign that the fundamental design is flawed! I personally would strongly recommend the Sony ICF-SW7600GR (about $135) or a used Sony ICF-SW55 (about $250, no sync detector but the King of true portables) if you can find one. Both of these radios consistently make my expensive ham gear cringe. "roystr" wrote in message ps.com... thanx alot joe. i hope i didnt make a booboo,i just ordered the "super 909" from radio labs. ive read good things about it,and just went for it. now im nervous and hoping i didnt screw up. thank you for the advice,im sure ill have many more questions after the 909 gets here. roy |

FYI:
Sony 7600GR - Best performance per dollar. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/7600GR http://groups.yahoo.com/group/7600group Sony SW55 - The King of true portables: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sw55 (Lots of reviews & info in the links section.) Sony SW77 - A little too large for my use but the King of "toteables": http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SONYICFSW77 Sony 2010 - All time greatest "toteable" of all: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/icf2010 |
