Violkswagen (Europe) and Mercedes-Benz of Europe and
some South America will fit you with a shortwave radio in their
new cars, however as there is no "market" for the same at
present in the USA, the same is not available except by
special order. (there is a Volkswagen dealer I know of in
the Wash DC area which will special-order a VW OEM
radio with shortwave from Europe and install the same, however
be prepared to pay almost $1300.00) It's special-ordered
from the factory in Germany and normally available in
Europe-market models only, leadtime is 4 weeks.
Seems to be popular with Diplomatic and Legation Cars at
Embassy service in the DC area.
