Can't hold a candle to the Degen 1103 IMO.

The Degen is also way more expensive than $20, too.

My vote is to go check eBay and the thrifts. A ham
radio swap meet isn't a bad idea either. I picked up a

direct drive turntable at one for $10, which was a real
steal since the turntable itself only needed minor
tweaking to get to good operation.

I'll sell you my Kaito KA 1101 for 50 bucks, and not a penny less.

your response is a bit illogical and typical of the recent decline in
shortwave broadcasting. you assume that everyone in the US has a nice
internet connection.
he mentions he is in the boonies and is impoverished. logically we can
conclude that his internet access is not one favorable to steaming
audio for hours at a time. wemust also conclue he has only one phone
line and that it would be not good to tie it up for periods at a time.

I suggest the gentleman search for a USED radio, probably one that is
not in the best of cosmetic condition but is a good performer. These
radios are out there.

No offense intended, but I have to blurt this out...

This has to be the *worst* "Spock" I've come across in quite
some time on usenet. Now, I've seen some bad ones - really bad
ones - but this one shudders takes the entire cake! It would
be humorous if it weren't so awful...

I'd say something jd but I don't want him pulling the Vulcan Death Grip on
me. :)

P.S. If he tries the mind probe on me, he's a gonner! Nobody has ever
survived!!!!!!!! Bwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Actually, I never got to see that episode where he did the
mind-reading thing with a rock, but a friend is an *avid* (way
overboard) collector of Star-Trek anything - she ensures I get
to hear more than I care to...
