A magnitude 8.5 earthquake OFF THE W COAST OF NORTHERN SUMATRA has occurred
at:
3.30N 95.78E Depth 10km Sun Dec 26 00:58:50 2004 UTC

This morning USGS reports that this was the 5th largest ever recorded.
