In the broader sense no one can easily recognize slant as such when they
hear it if it agrees with their prejudices, but NPR news programming
is very careful to present both sides of issues when there
is controversy.

Sure thing Larry.

By the way, are you selling any investor swampland or maybe pre-owned
cars or how about multi-level marketing.

You must think most people in the news group are pretty stupid.

Now let's see: NPR has a slight leftward slant, coupled with a tendency
to present information from recognized and experienced experts who
really KNOW something about the subjects they cover. Maybe NPR has one
or two radio stations in each market.

Unlike Larry you at least acknowledge the leftward slant but I perceive
that it is a little more than slight.

The hosts and the people they interview are liberal elitists whether
they know what they are talking about or not.

Right wing talk radio dominates most AM outlets--at least here in the
South--and presents many hours a day of radio "showmen" presenting
their unsupported opinions in the most extreme and confrontive language
they can possibly manage.

The right wing radio I listen to is Sean Hannity because he has people
in the white house on his show speaking on current events unlike the
continuous drone of failed or unproven liberal ideas the elitists like
babble on about.

Yep, it sure is unfair that those libs on NPR get to do what they do.

Yeah it's unfair my tax dollars go to broadcasting ignorant thought.

What the hell does anything you wrote have to do with the liberal /
academic / elitist bias of NPR? You just wore two paragraphs full
of BS.

What I wrote was meant to indicate that this thread was about AFRTS
carrying the NPR news feed. AFRTS is a part of the Defense
Department, and if NPR's news coverage is considered reasonable and
obviously even desirable, by the Defense Department, maybe the
"slant" that RHF and you see in it is a product of your own extremist
beliefs. Armed Forces Radio's audience is probably above average in
education level, but it isn't an academic elite, and I don't think
military personnel are particularly more liberal than the country at
large.

There is nothing extremist about my thinking. I'm very middle of the
road and conservative in my thinking. The liberal crap generally
propagated on NPR are a collection of failed or unproven ideas that
don't work. Conservative ideas are sneered at by most on NPR most of
the time.

The fact that the NPR is on AFRTS is just an example of bureaucratic
incompetence not that NPR news coverage is reasonable or desirable. You
drew a wrong conclusion.

The only secret plot around here is you playing a Troll. You are not
stupid so what is your point arguing NPR does not have a leftist slant?

Of course maybe it's one of them there secret plots. How's the hunt
for the secret communist backers of Air America going?

Going pretty good. I was listening to those air america jackass's the
other day sporting german accents portraying the current administration.
Very un-funny stuff.

Well, she and a few others certainly 'stepped in it' yesterday, that's for sure.

Rush certainly had a lot to say about it on his program, and most of it made
sense to me.

I'd certainly like to see some Democrats bring up the issue of the manufactured
votes in the gubenatorial race in Washington State. But we all know that's not
going to happen.

Bottom line in all of this is that had John Fraud Kerry won the election, none
of this would have been brought up.

Today, A Prairie Home Companion is heard by over 4 million listeners
each week on over 558 public radio stations, and is heard abroad on
America One and the Armed Forces Networks In Europe and the Far East.
Keillor remembers, "When the show started, it was something funny to
do with my friends, and then it became an achievement that I hoped
would be successful, and now it's a good way of life."

A Prairie Home Companion is produced by Prairie Home Productions, and
distributed nationwide by American Public Media. The program is
underwritten by Lands' End Direct Merchants and Select Comfort.
