Default really horrible conditions

I haven't heard Cuba since mid January, and I've heard the BBC only
intermittently in the last month. Tuesday morning (world day) was the
first time in three weeks that I've heard the BBC on 9525 at 0300 UTC! I
haven't even bothered to check Australia's 15 Mhz freqs. The only freq I
can hear the BBC on at 0300 (when they broadcast The World Today) is
5975, and even that is practically unlistenable most of the time! Are
sunspot lows always like this? Has there been some big long lasting
solar disturbance over the past month? My Degen has become practically
useless for casual listening, and my Yaesu isn't doing too well either.
What's going on? Is this the end of the world? (Hell, it's as good an
explanation as any other.)
