Greetings,
I had this great idea that my mom would really like shortwave radio, so I picked up a 7600gs for her and the latest Passport. She is still confused on the topic and we don't spend enough time together for me to set it all up for her properly. I figured people who listen in here have their own favorite casual listening stations. the stations you have programmed in on your portable, or the station you've got perpetually tuned into in your shop. Easy signals in the US. My own is ABC at 9580, which I listen to ovenight on those nights that i'm up late (or up early) working on projects. I also tune into WBCQ on 7415- there's some very entertaining stuff on that station. Anyone else have a casual station to share? Thanks Michael |

Do you have any idea of how most Americans process media input? Unless she craves alternatives to the mainstream twaddle she is conditioned to consume she will hear nothing but flanging pink noise. |

It comes in good here in South Carolina, so I imagine that it can't be too far away. |

I can go check but off the top of my head I think it's from Bonaire up until about 0300 or so then it switches to Delano. It's either Bonaire or French Guiana. I don't think it's a very good idea unless she lives in an area where there are strong decent signals. (Only ones I get are religious) BBC is good, but for me anyway, it's rebroadcast on FM anyway. I usually end up tuning into NPR or something mainstream for overnight, the fade in - out of shortwave keeps me awake. I do like radio cuba (6000) but only because it amuses me to hear something so anti-american. (As an "information source" it ranks up there with Mr. Limbaugh or Howard Stern) Jamie -- http://www.geniegate.com Custom web programming (rot13) User Management Solutions |

thanks to everyone for their responses. She is getting a hoot out of
Cuba, plus the music is great. If anyone has any ideas about more music to be heard on SW, any language (as long as a 7600gr in the US midwest with the sony active loop can pick it up). Thanks Michael |

AIR Bangalore outlets on 9425 and 10330 in the mornings get my vote. The
reception is often wonderful, especially on 9425, and the sub-cont. music and Bollywood sounds are great listening.
