At that juncture she had no responsibility to get back to him whatsoever. He lost the auction... In reality, he was trying to alter or defeat the auction process by making another offer after another individual won the auction. As an addendum, what she was probably trying to say when she said she'd get back to him was that she'd get back to him if circumstances with the winning bidder change. Another no-brainer. If that was the case, that is what she should have said. Nothing that important; it is to be expected when dealing with such a large section of society. There used to be a big flea market on Maxwell Street (east side of Chicago) every weekend. You could find almost anything there at any given time, from rare items to outright junk. I alway tell my friends "Maxwell Street didn't disappear......it just moved to the Internet". For those of you who saw the Blues Brothers, the scene where John Lee Hooker was playing the song Boom Boom was on Maxwell Street. Pete |
