How about Megahertz?

Well, when I have a specific instance in mind I type out the frequency
but in this case I was tuning through the bands and recalled that I
heard Brother Stair in passing through them but did not stay to listen
so I generalized that I heard him on certain bands. I did not note the
specific frequencies that I heard him on. The bands are noted by meters
not frequency so you must then have a frequency definition of the SWBC
bands.

Er, what's wrong with using "The 7 MHz Band" instead of "The 39 Meter
Band" (or 41 or whatever number is used). A quick look in the FCC
regulations (Part 73 subpart F) shows that officaldom doesn't bother
with meter band designations.

To bring this back to WWCR or whoever is running in the 3 MHz band,
what regulations are they operating under? My (older, 1989) copy
of the broadcast regs says that international broadcasting starts in
bands above 5950 kHz. (73.702f)

Legally, WWCR is NOT supposed to be on 3210. The US has NO freq
allocations in the tropical bands, neither does anywhere else in the
western world, and that's to keep bands open for fleawatt transmitters
in the third world, where many people even today rely a lot on SW. The
FCC is doing a **** poor job of regulating SW because there's no profit
in it and no powerful lobbying group (like the NAB) pushing its
interests in Washington. Remember when WWFV broadcast on 6890 (I think)
which is outside of EVERY SINGLE broadcast band, ham band, or any other
band, and the FCC didn't do a damn thing about it? One mega fine would
have shut down those losers right now, but the FCC didn't act. Same
thing with WWCR, if the FCC wanted to they could stop them from
broadcasting in the tropical bands where they're NOT supposed to be, but
the FCC won't do it. Our govt has totally been taken over by money-the
more dough you have, the more access and influence you get-and it sucks.

OK, we will see how that works.

In this area, KFBK on 1530 khz drowns out KMPC, so I can't hear this.
Besides, I've got WWCR shortwave to listen to. :)
