It's xmas in June... The 42.5 kg micro-satellite is one of two that will be sent aloft from this launch pad that day. Today, there is no HAMSAT in the skies, the last one having died two years ago. That was the American AMSAT. Uhhhh....What? No "hamsat's" in the skies? http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/satellites/status.php Don't look so dead to me...Maybe they mean India's birds...?? Heck, we got a new one up...AO-51..."Echo"... And....AMSAT is ....well....AMSAT... http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/index.php Saudi Arabia has a HAMSAT in the sky, but this is available only to operators in the Middle East. The transponders are switched on only when this satellite moves over Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries. I guess the other countries are not worthy? :/ You'd think with all that oil money they could afford to live a little, and let the masses have access as long as the batteries are not tango uniform... Oh well...Another day, another $3.24.... "India will make available the ISRO HAMSAT to everyone in the world, free of cost", Gupta told IANS. Like I said...It's xmas in June...I'll alert the media... Oh wait....That was the media.... :/ MK |
