Default NRS/SAQ Longwave Seminar cancelled

(29)30 June - 2(3) July, 2005, Campus Varberg, Sweden

Dear longwave people,

LW 05 has been cancelled, sorry.

Yesterday May 25th, about a month before the LW 05 seminar, only 11 persons
had registered. We know that there are about the same number in the
pipeline, but they have been there for weeks or months.

The sponsoring foundations (The Grimeton World Heritage and the Nordic Radio
Society) are quite willing to take losses as they promote radio competence
activities of this kind. However, it would not be right to gather only 10-20
participants from very few organisations. Another reason, but not the main
one, is that the number of keynote speakers have decreased, reasons varying.

In this late stage, after some more weeks of frustation, we have been forced
to cancel the seminar. I am very sorry for this; we are unhappy, you are
unhappy, I am unhappy, but the decision could not possibly be postponed any
further.

We have told the Fregatten hotel that the seminar has been called off, but
you yourself will have to cancel the hotel reservation, please. No seminar
invoices have been issued.

I take this opportunity to thank those who have supported us. Some of them,
i. a. VT Communications and organisations in Varberg, have been extremely
helpful. The LW 05 committees and secretariat have made a good work and been
a consolation in a difficult time.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and hope to see you anytime, anywhere.

SAQ will be on air during the weekend 2/3 July to celebrate the inauguration
of the Grimeton World Heritage. You will find details on the website
http://www.alexander.n.se and hope you will be able to receive the message.

Regards,

Carl (Walde)
(ex) LW 05 chair
