Not sure what you are asking the reason for. But if it is why hams cling to the need to require prospective hams take a purposeless test, I think it is mostly because they had to take the test in a time when knowlege of the code was important. It can be difficult to realize that times have changed and that the morse code test no longer provides a pool of hams with a useful (or useable) skill. |
